CB-AV “V” Aluminum Center Break

The “V” configuration of the CB-AV makes the switch ideal for low profile substation installations.

The switch can also be installed on a pole in phase-over-phase or phase-opposite arrangements for transmission line applications.  For transmission line applications at 115 kV through 161 kV, the switch can be supplied with high line charging current interrupting SuperwhipsTM.

CB-AV Performance Features

  • High-pressure line contacts
  • Magnetically attracting parallel path hinge and jaw contacts increase contact pressure under short circuit
  • Non-breakable, tin-plated hard-drawn copper terminal pads with NEMA Standard hole pattern
  • Silver-to-silver contacts
  • Stainless steel contact springs and live parts hardware
  • Provision for live part adjustment
  • Permanently lubricated, maintenance-free double sealed ball bearings with indentation-proof races
  • Rigid hot-dip galvanized base

Unitized Switch

ATX100_3808a

Cleaveland/Price “Quick Install” unitized switches should be your choice for transmission switching

  • If you have a small installation time window
  • If you want a switch that is easy to install and comes pre-adjusted
  • If you want a switch that operates easily
  • If you need a switch that will reliably interrupt the capacitive current of long transmission lines

Or

  • If you just plain want to save money on the installed cost of your asset

CB-A Aluminum Center Break

The Cleaveland/Price CB-A is a three pole, group operated, aluminum center break switch used primarily in substation applications. The switch is available in rating from 69 kV through 345 kV.

The center break design is useful in applications where a customer wishes to use a more economical switch that utilizes two insulators per pole instead of three per pole as in a vertical break or double break switch. The switch can be used in applications where there is limited overhead clearance.

CB-A Performance Features

  • Aluminum blades and tin-plated copper current carrying parts
  • High-pressure, silver-to-silver contacts at hinge and jaws
  • Non-cast, tin-plated copper terminal pads with NEMA standard hole pattern on three planes
  • Blade guide with generous lead-in
  • Blade alignment provision
  • Stainless steel contact springs
  • Arc horns / Ice shields
  • Rigid hot-dip galvanized base assembly
  • Rotating insulator stops
  • Insulator jacking bolts on double channel bases

V2-C Copper Vertical Break

The Cleaveland/Price V2-C is a three pole, group operated, copper vertical break switch used primarily in substation applications. Copper switches are popular for coastal installations, however, copper oxide will develop on the copper parts.  To prevent oxidation of the copper parts, Cleaveland/Price offers an optional feature of tin-plating the copper parts.  The switch is available from 15 kV through 230 kV and a continuous current rating of up to 4000A.

V2-C Performance Features

  • All copper current carrying parts(aluminum blades at 161 kV and 230 kV high current ratings)
  • Unbreakable, non-cast copper terminal pads with NEMA standard hole pattern
  • Fully insulated journal bearing to prevent current flow through the live operating parts
  • Unbreakable, non-cast operating crank
  • Counterbalance springs, when supplied, are insulated from the current path as are the counterbalance spring ice shields.  The springs are made of stainless steel for life long corrosion resistance.
  • Silver-to-silver contacts at hinge and jaw
  • Stainless steel contact springs insulated from the current path
  • Hard-drawn, high conductivity copper contact fingers at hinge and jaw
  • Hot-dip galvanized single channel base on switches rated 7.2 kV to 69 kV, double channel base on switches rated 115 kV to 230 kV
